Mr. Jean-Marc Yacé, Mayor of Cocody, received the Viviès ambassador to discuss the possibility of supporting a dispensary, following the visit of the President of the Ordre de Malte France in December 2023 ; a visit to the area enabled the new infrastructure to be visualized.
A visit was organized by the First Councillor to meet the Secretary General of the Benianh Foundation, Mr. Athjanase Ogou Okaingni. A visit to the St Jean-Baptiste hospital is planned in the near future to identify a partnership for the training and integration of women in the health sector.
Accompanied by the Director of Hôpital St Jean-Baptiste, the Ambassador met with CHU CEO Guillaume KOUADIO, Dr YAO from the pediatric oncology department, and Pr KONAN, head of the maxillofacial surgery department.
The St Jean-Baptiste hospital changed Director last August, and a new External Relations Manager was appointed. This team, completed by the new First Secretary and the First Adviser, will consolidate the coherence of our activities on site, supported by the Ordre de Malte France and the Association des amis de l'Ordre de Malte en Côte d'Ivoire, as well as by our various partners.
On September 10 and 11, HEM Arnaud de Viviès took part in the 2nd conference organized by the Grand Magisterium in Rome, devoted to the African diplomatic corps. The first day brought together the Order's ambassadors around the Grand Chancellor and the Grand Hospitaller, for a working meeting to provide information and review directives.
A meeting was held at the Foundation's Trechville headquarters on June 25, 2024, with SEM Arnaud de Viviès. The Foundation's Secretary General, Henriette Gomis- Billon, surrounded by her team, outlined the current partnership with Saint Jean-Baptiste Hospital, which complements the work carried out by the Lya Foundation in the field of sickle cell disease.
SEM Arnaud de Viviès met with the President of the Lya Foundation, Dr. Kadio-Morokro and his team, to discuss the ongoing partnership between Hôpital St Jean-Baptiste and this institution in the fight against sickle-cell anemia, in particular assistance and contribution to the management of this disease, which affects some 120 million people, i.e. around 5% of the world's population, and almost 400,000 children born in Africa.
In the presence of the hospital's future Director, Yohan Vignaud, who will take up his post on July 15, and the Ordre de Malte France's Medical Director, Dr. Guisset, the Ambassador travelled from Abidjan to meet hospital staff and attend the presentation of the new Director. Following the mass celebrated by Father Konan, a reception was held at the nuns' home, in their community next to the chapel.
The Ambassador visited the St Jean-Eudes dispensary in Yopougon with Sister Anna, head of the center, and her team.
